It became famous especially in football, where it won 11 league titles and was one of the top European clubs in the 1960s. The club has produced a number of Olympic champions and world champions in various sports. Legends include Josef Masopust, winner of the 1962 Ballon d'Or, and Czechoslovak national football icon Ladislav Vízek.
