Jiří Sobotka (1911-1994), legendary Czech football player and coach, left an indelible mark on the history of Czechoslovak football. As a player for Slavia Prague he helped the team to win five league titles. He played 23 matches in the national jersey and was part of the silver team at the 1934 World Cup in Italy. After his playing career, he successfully turned to coaching, leading, among others, Swiss FC Basel to the title in 1967. Sobotka was known for his technical prowess and football mindset, which he passed on to future generations as a respected coach.
