...MUDr. Jaroslav Hausman wrote ten years after this event in the magazine Sport a hry that the general meeting was held on 2 November 1892 in Kaulich's house on Charles Square. In the Calendar of Czech Students for the year 1893-1894, which deals with the events of the school year 1892/93, it is written on page 27 that two general assemblies of Slavia were held in November 1892, namely the 4th one (which was an ordinary one and discussed mainly the authoritarianism of the older members) and the 14th one (a proposal to celebrate Jan Kollar's 100th birthday was discussed). There is no mention of the founding of the cycling branch on this page of the calendar. On page 115, however, it is already mentioned that the Cycling Department has been newly established.
Kaulich's house in Prague's New Town, no. 285 (at the corner of Charles Square, no. 21, and Zderazská Street, now Odborů Street, no. 17) was actually called U Červeného zvonu, also Na Vršku (also V Podhrbí in the 14th century). At the end of the 19th century, however, it was owned by Helena Kaulichová. The house was later demolished. Today, a new modern white tile building with the same number stands in its place, only the entrance from Charles Square has a new number 19.
In the same month, when the cycling department was established, another interesting event occurred in Slavia, because on 5 November 1892 a prominent politician and later Minister of Finance, JUDr. Alois Rašín (1867-1923), was elected chairman of the literary and Greek Slavia.
While the calendar for 1893-1894 mentions the Slavic cycling only fleetingly, the following calendar for 1894-95 describes in detail all the cyclists' resources. Among the seven most successful Slavic cyclists we find the medic Jan Janský (1873-1921), later a famous doctor, who established 4 blood groups in contrast to the 3 blood groups discovered by K. Landsteiner.
The first mayor of the cycling department was MUDr. Václav Kubr. The following year, however, Václav Bartosek was already at the head of the department, but he, together with Karel Reisner and others, left Slavia. Reisner then founded against Slavia the Association of racers "Trojlístek" and concentrated almost all Czech cycling racers into it. The remaining Slavs called architect Karel Ankrt (born 1867 in Vražkov, Litoměřice district) to the orphaned mayor's chair. It was an excellent choice. Ankrt managed to get new competitors in a short time. Later, after the demise of the cycling department, he founded an independent Slavic sports club and became its first chairman and also its first honorary member. Dr. J. Hausman wrote about him in 1907: "It is hard to imagine a greater and more active love for the club than that shown by this first truly noble man". "Without him", as Hausman further notes, "the rickety boat of Slavia's existence would probably have been wrecked". Ankrt later drew up the plans for the first Slavist grandstand at Letná, which was built in 1901, free of charge.
